The Taishoji Busshinkai was organized on February 23, 1930 by the Rev. Tairei Shibukawa, 5th resident minister.
The purpose of the organization is to foster a deeper understanding of the Zen teachings by reading and studying the various Zen teachings.
BON TORONAGASHI (palade of floating lanterns) occurs at dusk.
Each year at Hilo’s wailoa river to end the Bon festival for Taishoji. Families write names of beloved ones to send their spirits back to Nirvana(the spirit world).
